Systems of Support

The district is committed to creating safe, supportive learning environments that promote both academic achievement and positive mental health. To support this work, UCSD provides:

  • Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): A framework used in all buildings to provide varying levels of support based on student need
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Universal programming for all students in grades K–8 to build skills such as self-awareness, relationship-building, and decision-making
  • Response to Intervention (RTI): Early support and intervention to address academic and behavioral challenges
  • Restorative Practices: Relationship-centered approaches that promote accountability, build community, and support positive behavior through reflection and problem-solving
  • Crisis Response Teams: Building- and district-level teams trained to respond to student needs during emergencies and critical incidents

Together, these supports ensure that students receive timely and appropriate assistance, allowing them to remain engaged in learning and experience success in school.
