Students Explore Skilled Trades at Summer Camp

Students in grades 9-12 in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Wing at Proctor High School recently participated in a hands-on summer skilled trades camp sponsored by SUNY Poly. As part of the experience, instructors from the North Atlantic Skills Trade Union introduced students to foundational construction skills, including proper measuring, cutting and basic building techniques.

Working collaboratively, students applied these new skills to construct three benches that will be donated to the Utica City School District. The camp provided students with valuable real-world experience while reinforcing teamwork, craftsmanship, and community service, helping prepare them for future careers in the skilled trades.

The CTE Department would like to thank the North Atlantic Skills Trade Union for volunteering their time with the students in the UCSD.
